I've always wanted to go ziplining and when we had the opportunity to do it, I jumped at the chance. Not just one zipline, but SEVEN!
Once we got to the spot where we would start our zipping, no time was wasted in getting us into our gear. The helmets were far from flattering, but necessary with the low cables.Once everyone was in their gear and instruction was given, we started our hike UP the mountain on a fairly steep path. It reminded me of going up the 500 stairs in Kingsford. It surely got my heart rate up. The sight was so worth the climb!
We had excellent guides who made things fun as well as safe. Jeffrey was fairly new and so Valerie was with him the entire time. I think she was just making sure he knew what he was doing. Eddie was so flamboyant! What a character she was! Then there was Jorie who is a local and she was the one to send us off from the platforms. What a fun job!
So many cables and we were always tethered. As soon as we stepped onto the platform, our tether was attached to the cable. Before we zipped, we were tethered to a second line. No chance of falling.
One of the lines was very long. A few of the smaller girls had to be retrieved as they didn't have enough weight to get them to the brake.
The valleys were as beautiful as the mountains. It was a thrill being able to look down over the tops of the brush and see the fauna below.
We had a few water stops but definitely no bathrooms out there. It was rugged except for the trails.
All of us stepped up and waited on each platform. There were 11 of us and so zipped two at a time. That surely made things go faster.
I love the view behind us and the guy next to me. He wasn't sure he wanted to do it and I told him I'd go without him as this was one thing I really wanted to do.
These guides sure are relaxed. They never once got excited about anything. Except maybe Eddie. She was quite excitable.
The longest zip of the day wasn't the most fun. The final zip was best as it was all downhill. We didn't have to slow down and go uphill to the platform. The brake surely hit hard though.
Along our trail there were three suspension bridges. Easy to maneuver except that it got bouncy when the person behind started to walk on it. Still, pretty easy.
I would do this again and again. I enjoyed it so much, although probably a different venue.
