The Gheen home is where Elder Flanders spent a lot of time all by himself during our Covid quarantine time. He did a lot of painting here.
My contribution to this home is in the places people will probably not see. The upstairs room and the basement bathroom and the stairways both up and down. I took this photo as I think the handrail is really funky.
This is standing on the main floor looking up the stairwell. I painted a lot of that but Flanders and Mensel finished it off. I had no idea how to get a ladder safely in that space.
In the parlor of this room sits William Gheen's casket. If you look out the window above the casket, you will see the temple. This is a place where tours will be taught about eternal families.
The Gheens had a Quaker background. They always placed a black cloth over the mirror to keep evil spirits out of the home after someone passed. In the above photo, you will see the dress worn by the widow. She would wear that black dress for one year!
