We're a Couple of Losers!

You read that right.  Pat and I were both unhappy with the number on the scale as well as our expanding waistlines.  He got there before I did and changed up his eating habits and has lost 28 pounds!  I have a problem in that I refuse to weigh more than my husband.  After a little persuading, Julie talked me into a fitness class held at the school.  It started last fall.  There were 11 that started and only 5 of us finished.

Tracy, Julie, Ginger and myself wanted another six weeks so we signed up to go to her studio in Shawano.  Well, since then we all signed up for another six weeks of torture.  Andrea is our personal trainer and she's awesome.  I never thought I say that I have a personal trainer.  Kind of weird.  She asks us to weigh in each week and she takes measurements every other week.  So far I've lost 15 pounds and 4 inches around my waist.  I am able to wear clothes that I couldn't anymore which is freaking awesome!

Pat loves to buy me clothes, especially dresses.  He brought one home from a second hand shop around Christmas.  It was beautiful.  He asked me to try it on and I didn't have time just then.  When I did try it on, I felt like a sausage stuffed into a casing.  It wasn't pretty.  On Monday morning, I was getting ready for seminary and went upstairs to the closet where I keep my off season clothing.  I tried on that dress and it fit!  Gotta say, I was pretty excited.  Then I decided it was much too nice of a dress to waste on seminary so I changed.

My class goes for another 6 session, but due to track practice beginning, I'm going to miss the last three.  Oh well, I'll be able to do the core workout I make my athletes do cause I found that under all that fat, there's a six pack waiting to be discovered.  Things that were very difficult 14 weeks ago are much easier now.

The best part of all of this is trying on a skirt and finding slack.  A pair of jeans without any lycra in them FIT!  I am one happy camper.  The exercise is great but changing the eating habits was the biggest factor in losing those pounds.  I'm not done yet.  I'd like another 10 to melt off my body.  We'll see after that.

Basketball Season

This year our boys have had a great basketball season.  They have only 5 losses and those have a collective total of 10 points by which they lost.  (Does that make sense?)  They've played hard each and every game.  They finished 3rd in the conference.  Last night they began regional play.  They are in a strange sectional this year.  The only team they've come up against was Oneida.
They beat Marinette St. Thomas Aquinas Academy last evening.  Friday night they will travel to Sheboygan to play Sheboygan Area Lutheran.  That happens to be the team that won state last year, but then they lost their superstar who now plays for Wisconsin.
Our guys have a chance, as always.  I hope they can pull it out cause they're such a good team.  Good luck guys.  I'll be there taking more photos and cheering you on!

Sick of Being Sick

I don't often get sick.  Really I don't.  This winter has been a killer for me.  In November I ended up with strep throat.  Over Christmas and into the new year I had that great flu with the congestion and cough.  A cough always lasts a long time for me but I was finally over it.  Today I went in to the clinic and was told I have bronchitis.  At least it isn't pneumonia.  I'm so tired of coughing.  My back muscles hurt from coughing.  I'm sick of being sick.  I'm hoping this isn't a sign of turning 50!
